Sutter County Jail Releases

Court releases differ because the person returns from the courthouse at varied times and is released as soon as practical, with court releases completed by 7:00 p.m. each evening depending on operations.

Sutter Jail Property Release
Sutter's release procedures are specific about property and money. All property held at the jail is returned when the person is released. Property left more than 90 days after release is destroyed or otherwise disposed of. Remaining account balances are issued by check from the prisoner's cash fund at release.
A person being transported to state prison may release property before transport during visiting hours or by appointment during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1700. The request must be signed by the inmate and verified by jail staff, and the recipient must show valid photo ID. Shoes and clothing needed for transportation or release will not be released.
Sutter Jail ICE Caveat
A local release and an immigration custody question are separate. The research found a 2014 Sutter Sheriff's command order archived by ILRC stating that Sutter would no longer hold inmates or intakes solely on ICE detainers while continuing to notify ICE when there was a possible immigration violation. Because the source is historical, current practice should be verified with the Sheriff. If ICE custody is possible, use ICE ODLS in addition to the Sutter jail release record.
Sutter Jail Bail Releases
Bail releases are handled at the jail lobby by contacting the control-room deputy. Sutter's release procedures say the full bail amount may be posted by U.S. currency, cashier's check, or money order. Personal checks are not accepted. Cashier's checks and money orders must be payable to Sutter County Consolidated Courts. A bail-bond agency may also post bail.
For court releases, the Sutter Superior Court record is the durable explanation. The court can show bail changes, dismissal, sentence completion, warrant recalls, probation orders, and other events that explain why the person left jail. If the person returns from court late in the day, the release may occur after the morning scheduled-release window.
Sutter Jail Roster Limits
Sutter does not publish a confirmed standalone 24-hour or 72-hour release feed. The public portal may display a release date field, but the enabled filters are name, race, sex, and in-custody date, not release date. A person missing from the current roster may be released, transferred, entered under a different spelling, outside the date filter, restricted, or still moving through data updates.
