Find Sutter Jail Releases

To find someone released from Sutter County Jail, separate the local jail release from court disposition, supervision, and any transfer. The jail portal and VINE can show custody status or a release-related field, while Sutter Superior Court explains the order, bail event, sentence, warrant, or probation result behind the release. A person leaving this facility may return to the community, post bail, complete a sentence, leave by court order, or move into another agency's custody.

Sutter County Jail Releases

Sutter County Jail is the adult county jail operated by the Sutter County Sheriff's Office Corrections Section. Release from this facility can mean community release, bail release, time served, court release, transfer to CDCR, transfer to another county, federal transfer, ICE follow-up, or another hold resolution. The release record must be read with that range in mind.

For sentenced jail releases, the Sheriff's release procedures say sentence terms are entered into the jail computer, the system calculates a release date, and the date is provided to the inmate. Those scheduled releases are processed at 5:00 a.m. on the release morning and exit into the Sheriff's Office front lobby. Court releases differ because the person returns from the courthouse at varied times and is released as soon as practical, with court releases completed by 7:00 p.m. each evening depending on operations.

Confirm Sutter Jail Release

The right confirmation path starts with local custody tools, then moves to court and records. The Sutter County released inmates hub gives the full path when the person no longer appears in current custody.

  1. Search the Sutter County Zuercher portal by name and review arrest date, held-for agency, and release date fields.
  2. Use VINE to check current custody status, location, and release or transfer alerts from the jail booking system.
  3. Search Sutter Superior Court for the bail, dismissal, sentence, warrant, probation, or transfer event.
  4. Call the jail release-date number if the public portal shows a tentative release date that needs confirmation.
  5. Submit a Sutter County Public Records Act request if a formal historical release record is needed.

The Sutter Zuercher portal is the closest public jail lookup source.

Sutter Jail Records Contact

The jail is located at the Sheriff's Office complex in Yuba City. Use the jail contact for custody and release-date questions, but use the court or county PRA route when the requested record belongs there.

About Sutter County Jail

The Sheriff's Corrections Section says the adult jail has existed since 1977. Later additions included a 148-bed minimum facility, a 62-bed felony dorm, and a 52-bed maximum-security single-cell unit completed in 1999. Those facility details help identify the Sutter County Jail as the adult local custody site, not a state prison or federal facility.

Sutter Jail Property Release

Sutter's release procedures are specific about property and money. All property held at the jail is returned when the person is released. Property left more than 90 days after release is destroyed or otherwise disposed of. Remaining account balances are issued by check from the prisoner's cash fund at release.

A person being transported to state prison may release property before transport during visiting hours or by appointment during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1700. The request must be signed by the inmate and verified by jail staff, and the recipient must show valid photo ID. Shoes and clothing needed for transportation or release will not be released.

Sutter Jail ICE Caveat

A local release and an immigration custody question are separate. The research found a 2014 Sutter Sheriff's command order archived by ILRC stating that Sutter would no longer hold inmates or intakes solely on ICE detainers while continuing to notify ICE when there was a possible immigration violation. Because the source is historical, current practice should be verified with the Sheriff. If ICE custody is possible, use ICE ODLS in addition to the Sutter jail release record.

Sutter Jail Bail Releases

Bail releases are handled at the jail lobby by contacting the control-room deputy. Sutter's release procedures say the full bail amount may be posted by U.S. currency, cashier's check, or money order. Personal checks are not accepted. Cashier's checks and money orders must be payable to Sutter County Consolidated Courts. A bail-bond agency may also post bail.

For court releases, the Sutter Superior Court record is the durable explanation. The court can show bail changes, dismissal, sentence completion, warrant recalls, probation orders, and other events that explain why the person left jail. If the person returns from court late in the day, the release may occur after the morning scheduled-release window.

Sutter Jail Roster Limits

Sutter does not publish a confirmed standalone 24-hour or 72-hour release feed. The public portal may display a release date field, but the enabled filters are name, race, sex, and in-custody date, not release date. A person missing from the current roster may be released, transferred, entered under a different spelling, outside the date filter, restricted, or still moving through data updates.

Use the jail portal as the first check, not the final word. VINE can provide custody-change status and notifications. Court records explain the legal reason. A PRA request is the formal path when the release record itself is needed.
