CDCR Sutter Releases
CDCR is not a Sutter County facility, but it serves Sutter cases when the local conviction results in state prison. A person released from CDCR may not return to Sutter County, even if Sutter was the commitment county. Supervision office, residence, release date, parole eligibility, and parole discharge must be verified from current CDCR, BPH, DAPO, court, or records channels.
CIRIS is the public search for current CDCR custody. BPH schedules and results cover parole-suitability proceedings. CDCR OVSRS and e1707 handle eligible notification requests. CDCR's Public Records Portal handles state-custody records requests. A Sutter jail release record should not be sent to CDCR unless the person entered CDCR custody or the requested record belongs to CDCR.
Confirm CDCR Release
State-prison confirmation uses a different route from a county jail lookup. Start with the Sutter County released inmates search only when the first question is whether the person left Sutter County Jail for CDCR.
- Search CDCR CIRIS by name or CDCR number while the person may be in state custody.
- Compare age, CDCR number, current location, commitment county, and admission date.
- Use BPH parole-eligibility, hearing schedule, or hearing-result pages if parole suitability is involved.
- Use CDCR victim services or e1707 only for eligible notification requests.
- Use CDCR public records for state-custody records that are not already public.
The CDCR CIRIS page is the state search starting point for Sutter County commitments in CDCR custody.
A missing CIRIS result may mean the state search does not answer the release question. Check BPH, DAPO, CDCR records, or the Sutter court record next.

CDCR's Public Records Portal says CDCR is not the primary holder of local arrest reports, local law-enforcement videos, or court documents from local courts. Sutter County jail release records and Sutter Superior Court records should be requested locally.
About CDCR Records
CDCR records differ from county jail records. CIRIS covers current CDCR custody. BPH pages cover parole eligibility, schedules, and outcomes for qualifying cases. DAPO supervises parolees. CDCR victim services handle notification requests for eligible users. A Sutter County conviction can appear as a commitment county, but the person may be held at any CDCR institution statewide.

BPH Release Decisions
BPH conducts parole-suitability proceedings and nonviolent offender parole reviews for adults under CDCR jurisdiction. A BPH grant is not the same as immediate street release. The research notes that a grant remains subject to review by BPH's Legal Division and the Governor's Office before finality. That distinction is important when a Sutter County state-prison case appears in BPH results.

Use BPH results for parole-suitability context, then confirm custody or parole status through CDCR, DAPO, or records.
CDCR Release Notifications
CDCR victim services are separate from Sutter County VINE. CDCR's victim-services page says eligible victims, family members of victims, or witnesses who testified can request notification of custody-status changes, including release, death, escape, parole hearing, transfer to another prison, discharge from parole, contract, or scheduled execution. Requests use Form 1707 or the e1707 online service.
The CDCR e1707 service is the online state notification request path for eligible users.
For a Sutter County Jail detainee who has not entered CDCR, use Sutter VINE and local records instead of e1707.
Federal Is Separate
CDCR is not the federal system. If the Sutter case involved a federal sentence, use BOP for federal prison custody and release status. If immigration custody is involved, use ICE ODLS. USMS handles federal pretrial and transport custody but does not publish a public released-prisoner lookup or prisoner photographs. These systems should be used only when the court record, held-for agency, or custody history points outside CDCR.
Match the search tool to the custody agency shown in the court record or held-for agency field. A Sutter County jail transfer to CDCR, a BOP sentence, and an ICE custody event are three different release questions. One locator cannot confirm all three.
The same rule applies after release. A person can be out of CDCR custody but still under parole, federal supervision, immigration custody, or a local court obligation. Confirm the next status with the agency that controls it instead of assuming a CDCR release ends every related case or supervision term.
